Part 1 – Changing Camera’s settings

Tweaking the camera settings is the most basic thing that you can do to get richer results with minimum efforts. First, have some basic understanding of the terminologies. Some of them may not be directly applicable to the camera that you use, but learning about them won’t harm you, right?

Camera Sensors

Camera sensors are responsible for capturing light directed to it via lens. Sensors are packed with millions of pixels and hence the term, megapixels. Camera sensors captures light (photons) and convert it to electric signals. So, camera sensor is the thing that absorbs light to give you final result on gleaming screens.

The bigger the camera sensors, the better the photographs and that’s why DSLRs are not pocket-friendly (in terms of size and weight).

ISO

The ISO number measures the sensitivity of camera sensors towards light.

Shutter Speed

Determines the time for which camera shutter is open to gather light. It can also be referred to as the time taken to click a photograph.

Exposure

Right amount of exposure is needed to generate a vibrant photo. Too much exposure (over-exposed image) or too low exposure to light plays spoilsport. Correct exposure can be attained by balancing ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture.

Noise

Noise in digital images is the presence of random pixels (or tiny colorful speckles) on the surface of any photo. It mainly appears on the photos clicked in low-light conditions.

  In order to reduce noise in photos, one should use the base ISO number (its minimum value). By decreasing the sensitivity of the camera sensors, the noise level in a clicked image also decrease.

  As the ISO has been set on minimum, to maintain the right exposure, decrease the shutter speed in order to let the shutter be open for a longer duration and gather more light to improve quality of photos at night or other low-light conditions.

  A low aperture number can also be used to open up the aperture further but most of the basic cameras (such as that on smartphones) don’t give you the liberty to change aperture.

  Turn on HDR. This gives a better exposure to photos and the results are vibrant.

Part 2 – Use Post-Production Noise Reducer Pro Software

You clicked a photograph and you found the quality not good enough. Isn’t it hard to go back in time, change the camera settings, click that photo again and share it? Well, you know what I meant.
