Different Techniques To Make Your Laptop Run Faster

Method 1 – Close Programs Running In the System Tray

After startup, if your laptop takes time to respond, it’s probably due to programs running at the boot time. To fix it manually, right-click the taskbar and close the programs you don’t want to run.

However, if this seems like a lot of work. Try the Startup Manager module of Advanced System Optimizer. The module will list down programs running at boot time, allowing you to disable them. To use it, follow these steps:

  • Click Manage Startup.

  • Review the list of programs running at startup. Select the ones you want to disable and click the Disable button.

  • Close the window.
  • Restart the PC; you can see the difference in speed.

Method 2 – Update Outdated Device Drivers

Probably you must have heard keeping the operating systems, installed software, and device drivers updated helps keep the PC secure. This is true, and the same help in boosting performance.

To update Windows, which will simultaneously update device drivers, follow these steps:

  • Press Windows + I to open Windows settings.
  • Click Update & Security.
  • Windows Update > Check for updates. Wait for Windows to look for updates.
  • Click Download and install to get the latest updates.

  • After that, click Additional updates and install the driver updates.
  • Restart the PC to apply changes.

If this is not how you want things to work, you can use Advanced System Optimizer to update the driver.

  • Launch Advanced System Optimizer.
  • Click Regular Maintenance > Driver Updater > double-click on it.

  • Click Start Scan Now.

  • Restart the PC to save changes.

Method 3 – Uninstall Unwanted Programs

Just like we keep filling our closet, we keep installing programs. This clutters the laptop and negatively impacts performance. To deal with this problem, uninstall unwanted programs.

  • Right-click the Windows start icon.
  • Select Apps and Features.

  • Scroll through the list of programs. Select the software you don’t want to keep or don’t use anymore. Click Uninstall.

  • Confirm the action, and that’s it.

Again, to fix the computer’s slowness and freezing, you can use Advanced System Optimizer if you don’t want to uninstall applications manually.

  • Launch Advanced System Optimizer.

  • Click Regular Maintenance > double-click Uninstall Manager.
  • Let Uninstall Manager collect data and click Software List.

  • Select the potentially unwanted programs you want to eliminate and click the Uninstall button.

  • This will help enhance performance and free up space on the PC.

Method 4 – Modify Power Options

To reduce energy consumption, Windows provides several preset power plans. The default is set to Balanced. However, the other two plans Power Saver and High Performance, make laptops slow. The former focuses on keeping the electricity bills down, while the latter uses more energy and sometimes causes the laptop to slow down.

To modify the plans, follow these steps:

  • Press Windows + R to open the Run window.
  • Type Control > click Ok.
  • Select Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Create a power plan.
  • Choose the plan you would like to use, or if you want to, you can create a plan as per your choice.

  • Change advanced power settings and save them.
  • Now try to use the PC. It should work better.

Method 5 – Defrag disk

Although Windows offers a built-in tool to clean PC and optimize disks, to defrag disk quickly, we suggest Disk Optimizer. The feature shows fragments on the disk and helps optimize it in no time. This helps speed up the laptop.

  • Launch Advanced System Optimizer.
  • Click Disk Cleaner & Optimizers > Disk Optimizer.

  • Select the disk you want to scan. Do not perform defragmentation on the system drive, generally C:.

  • Click Start Scan Now to start the process > review scan results

  • Click the Defrag button to start the defragmentation process of the disk.

If running an individual module is also not of your liking, no worries. Advanced System Optimizer has a one-click PC cleanup and tuneup module – Smart PC Care. You can use it to perform deep cleaning.

  • Launch Advanced System Optimizer.
  • On the Welcome screen, you will see three scanning modes – Quick, Deep, and Custom.Quick Scan – as the name suggests, this scan type is quick, looking for unwanted files, cleans hidden privacy exposing traces, fixes registry issues, & optimizes the registry.

Deep Scan – this scan type is thorough and time-consuming. We recommend using it when the system is in an ideal state.

Custom Scan – gives complete control to the user. This means the user can decide which area to be scanned for errors and which to the left.

  • We suggest selecting Deep Scan as this will run a scan on seven crucial areas.
  • Let the scanning finish and click Optimize to fix the errors.
  • Restart the PC to enjoy working on a fast and optimized laptop.

In addition, you can use Duplicate File Remove to get rid of duplicate files, System Protector to clean malware infections, System Cleaner to clean junk files, Game Optimizer to boost gaming performance, and other modules. Once you use the tool, you will no longer have to clean the PC manually.

Speed Up Slow Laptop Performance

Once the PC is cleaned using the tips and Advanced System Optimizer, undoubtedly, you will see a boost in performance. Also, you will drop the idea of paying for a new laptop because your older one will now work fine. To avoid such issues, optimizing your PC once a month is a good idea.

You can use the scheduler and set a PC cleanup schedule to run monthly. This will help keep the PC clean and optimized. Keep the above tips handy so that you face no problem. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the section below.
