Easiest-Ways-to-Resolve-ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED-Error

If you are a Windows user and have come across the ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED error on your PC, you are exactly where you need to be.

The error reflects that the internet on your computer has been disconnected or cannot connect to it. If the network sign on the PC shows that you are connected, but the browser keeps loading a webpage to this error, you may be facing an error with the browser or your internet connection.

Usually, the error is common with Google Chrome users. However, that does not mean other browsers are escaped. Luckily, the internet disconnected error is not something you should be worried about as it is very well fixable.

How to fix the error, you ask? Well, there are multiple fixes you can try out. Find them listed below!

Root Causes of ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED Error

If your PC is facing an internet not connected error, there can be multiple reasons behind it. One of the top reasons is the internet’s performance. If the issue lies in the connection where the speed and the flow are not smooth enough to support life, there can be such issues.

Another reason the error can be seen, especially in a village, is the lack of understanding of the internet and router. If, for any reason, the internet is not working, the entire village unites to find a culprit instead of fixing the server or problem with the router.

Additionally, to keep a PC safe when security measures are taken, they are software-based. Due to this, every background process is stopped from intruding on the safety plan. This means it can even suspend the internet connection when it realizes an issue.

Other than these, some of the common causes that result in the ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED errors are –

  1. Unstable Internet Connection
  2. Network Settings Error
  3. Issues with Connected Router
  4. Outdated Web Browser
  5. Website Malfunction

Since there can be multiple reasons behind the error appearing on your browser, you need not worry. Instead, you should think about how you can fix it. Just like the number of causes, there are different fixes available that one can try. Check them out in the next section!

Working Fixes for Internet Not Working Error on Windows PC (Chrome)

Since the error appears regularly on Chrome, we have based our fixes on the same. If you face the issue on any other browser, try these fixes, as they also work on all other browsers.

Now without further ado, let’s jump straight to the fixes!

Fix #1 – Ensure You Have a Working Internet

Yes, you must first realize whether it is an issue with your PC or the internet is currently unavailable. If you use a particular website often and are not opening regularly, the internet is out now. You can connect with your ISP to identify if there is an issue with the connection.

Another thing you can do is try using the basic websites, such as loading a search engine. When you do that, the basic websites load instantly if the connection has no problem. It might not appear to be a fix, however, if the issue is identified in the internet itself, there is no need to fix anything as a simple connection reset will work.

Fix #2 – Change LAN Settings on Your PC

Now, if you have checked that the internet connection is fine, then the system might be causing the error prompt on your computer. The first thing you should do is change the internet settings on your PC.

There are certain changes that you have to make to ensure that the error is resolved. Here’s how you make the changes –

Step 1 – Go to the search menu using your keyboard’s start button (Windows Key).
Step 2 – In the search bar, type Internet Options. Open the related result to find the configurable options.
select Internet Options

Step 3 – From the opened window, click the Connections tab to find the options.

Step 4 – In the tab, you will find an option that says LAN settings. Click on it.

Step 5 – There’ll be another pop-up. Ensure that the Automatic Detection & Proxy Settings are unchecked from the menu.

Once you have made the changes, save them and exit the internet options. Now go to the Chrome browser and check if the error is resolved.

Fix #3 – Re-Configure Your Antivirus & Firewall

If the error persists after the previous fix, do not worry, as you can try this one out.

When your PC has dedicated security software, an antivirus, or any sort of firewall-based program to monitor your internet, chances of disconnection error are there. It is because any incoming traffic to the PC is suspected to be a point of risk for a PC. Hence the safety software might have suspended the connection.

The easiest way to handle this issue is to temporarily disable the security software and check if that fixes the internet issue. If it does, then you know what is causing the error. Simply change the configuration for your antivirus or firewall program, and the error should be resolved.

Every security software has a dedicated method to be disabled. Hence you should check the manual and take the process reference from it.

Fix #4 – Flush DNS for Better Internet

Another way that can help you resolve the ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED error is by flushing your domain name server (DNS). The benefits of DNS flushing can help you resolve this particular internet error if it is being caused due to changes in the DNS configuration of your PC.

Keeping the DNS cache is not advised as if any error is registered in the cache, it might repeat itself multiple times.

To flush DNS on your Windows PC, simply –

Step 1 – Go to the Start menu and search for Command Prompt.
Step 2 – Ensure you run it as Administrator to have proper rights. Open Command Prompt

Step 3 – In the Command Prompt, use the following commands to flush DNS – use command in command prompt window

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /renew

netsh int ip set dns

netsh winsock resetuse netsh winsock reset command to Reset Winsock & IPv4 Settings

Ensure these commands are run one after the other (press enter after each command).

Step 4 – Once all the commands have run successfully, restart your PC, and the error should be resolved.

Fix #5 – Wipe Browser History & Other Data

Last but not least, you must clear all the history, cookies, cache, and almost everything your browser holds, as sometimes the older data causes the error. Now the basic way to clear data on Chrome is to open settings and wipe cache, cookies, and browsing history

However, in this situation, that might not be effective. You need something that leaves no traces and clears the entire data like a pro. We recommend using Advanced System Optimizer with a Privacy Protector module.

Here’s how it works –

Step 1 – Download and Install the application on your PC.

Step 2 – Go to the Security & Privacy section from the left-hand panel.

Step 3 – There, you will find Privacy Protector Module. Open it.
Step 4 – Click on Start Privacy Scan for the tool to detect all your browsing data, including your history and cookies caches. Do not worry the tool never shares this information outside your knowledge.

Step 5 – Once the scan is over, it shows all the data your browser holds. Click on Clean to get rid of all the traces.

Once the data is clear, your browser is practically brand new. Try visiting the website that was showing the error. Only now, it should load regularly.
