How to Fix a Huion Pen Not Working

Huion-Pen-Not-Working

Have you recently bought a pen tablet for your PC but the Huion pen is not working on it? Unlike other input devices, a pen tablet gives you a more tactile experience as it allows you to draw things more precisely. Several designers go for a device like this to enhance their experience; hence, it is a popular accessory.

While this pen is used with a tablet, several users have shared that the Huion pen is not working properly. It is either not taking the inputs correctly or the feedback is inappropriate. Either way, the whole point of using a pen is lost and hence there is no feedback whatsoever.

If you too are a Huion pen user and facing similar problems, then this post is for you. In this one, let us take a look at some of the working fixes that will help you fix the Huion pen not working on Windows. Without further ado, let’s begin!

What is Causing the Error? Ways to Resolve Huion Pen Not Working

Before we begin with the issue, let us first identify a few reasons why the Huion pen may not be working properly. Some of the core reasons include –

  • Configuration errors
  • Outdated drivers on Windows
  • Error with the graphics tablet
  • Low battery/power in a pen
  • Wireless/wired connectivity issues

In case you are aware that any of these factors may be bothering your Huion Pen, do not worry as we have you covered. All you have to do is use the following fixes and troubleshoot the errors. Check out the fixes below!

Fix 1 – Make Sure the Support for Tablet PC is Enabled

The first thing you should take care of is that the pen is supported by the tablet you are using. There are a few settings that you must tweak before using your Huion pen. One of these settings includes enabling the support for tablet PCs. Here’s how you enable it –

Step 1 – Navigate to the right bottom corner of your screen to find the icon tray. In the icon tray, double-click on the driver table icon to open the PenTablet control center. icon tray

Step 2 – In the opened interface, make sure that the Support TabletPC option is marked enabled.

Fix 2 – Update Pen Tablet Driver on PC

If after enabling the option you are unable to detect the pen on your PC, chances are that the driver is the culprit. Without a proper driver version, your PC does not allow an external device to communicate with the device’s kernel, leading to issues such as Huion Pen not working properly.

If you come across a situation where the current driver on your PC is outdated, it is better to update the driver instantly and it goes for every device that you use with the PC.  However, installing the drivers for a Huion pen manually can get tricky as you have to update the drivers for the entire tablet as well. Hence, it is better if you let an application take care of the entire process.

How? Well, thanks to Advanced Driver Updater, you need not worry about manually finding the existing drivers and replacing them with the latest ones. All you have to do is –

Step 1 – Download and install the latest version of Advanced Driver Updater

Step 2 – Launch the app and click on the Start Scan Now button to initiate the process.

run advanced driver updater

Step 3 – Once the scan is over, you will have a list of available driver updates for your PC. Click on Update All and the process will start.

Let this process finish as the app will now find the updates and install them on your PC automatically. Needless to say, the app makes the work super easy to finish and hence you are good to go!

Fix 3 – Disable Windows Ink Option to Resolve Photoshop Errors

If you are an artist who uses the Huion pen to work on Photoshop and has been facing lags while using a brush tool, this is the fix for you. Simply follow the below instructions as they may be of great help for you.

Step 1 – Go to the Start menu and open Notepad. Searching for Notepad in Start Menu

Step 2 – In the Notepad, type “UseSystemStylus 0”.

typed UseSystemStylus 0

Step 3 – Save the above file as “PSUserConfig.txt”.
Step 4 – Save the above files at the below-mentioned location on the PC –

“C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 Settings”

If you are using a different version of Photoshop, check the folder name and accordingly modify the location.

Step 5 – After saving the file, open the Huion tablet interface, navigate to the Stylus Pen tab, and uncheck Enable Windows Ink.
