Before you jump to troubleshooting this problem, we suggest that you try a few steps that might resolve the issue.
Reboot Your PC: A simple restart can fix temporary issues and glitches.

Drivers are programs that help bridge the communication gap between the hardware and software. There are two ways to update drivers: Manually using the OEM website and automatically using the Advanced Driver Updater.
All laptop manufacturers maintain an official website where customers can download different resources like drivers, software, user manuals, etc. You need to identify the make and model of your laptop and visit the corresponding website. Here are a few links:
Lenovo Support
Dell Support
HP Support
Visit the support website of your laptop manufacturer and look for the relevant drivers of your Touchpad. Download and install them, followed by a restart.
If the above methods sound too technical and difficult, then you can use this easy method. The Advanced Driver Updater is an astonishing tool that can scan and identify driver issues on your PC. A few mouse clicks are all you need to do to update your drivers. Here are the steps to use Advanced Driver Updater:
1. Download and install Advanced Driver Updater from the download link below.
2. Once installed, open the software and click the Start Scan Now button on the app’s home screen.
3. Wait for the scan to complete, and a list of driver issues will appear on the screen.
4. Locate the Touchpad Driver among the list and click on the update link next to it.
5. The update process will now begin. Wait for the driver to be updated completely and restart your computer.
1. Press Windows + R, type rstrui, and hit Enter.
2. Choose a restore point from before the issue occurred.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to revert system settings.

Though not directly visible in Windows 11, you can launch it via Command Prompt:

msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic

Some systems switch to Microsoft’s Precision drivers, which handle gestures and right-click better.

2. If you see “Your PC has a precision touchpad”, toggle it On.
