How to Unblock Websites on School Computers

Studying online and learning the correct internet use has become a preliminary practice across schools. Today, every student from across the globe has access to the internet.

However, schools have a different approach. Students in school get a censored version of the internet. This means they can’t access everything.

School computers run a dedicated server and jammer that prevents students from accessing quite a huge list of websites. Understandably, a school does not want students to deviate from their studies or explore the dark side of the world wide web.

But stopping students from using the internet for their educational purpose is certainly not good.

There are times when website blockers end up blocking research platforms. Valuable resources that might add value to a student’s project are often blocked.

So what to do in such situations? Well, unblocking is what comes to mind. In this post, you may find ways to unblock websites on School computers and laptops that you use.

Remember that we do not intend to help students violate the school’s policy. However, the young ones must have access to the proper internet.

Methods to Unblock Websites on School Computers

It is important to identify the type of blocking implied to unblock useful websites that the blocker may accidentally block. Usually, in Schools, there are two types of blocking –

  1. Network Blocking: Wi-Fi or network jammers at school facilities stop you from accessing certain websites.
  2. IP-Based Blocking: Blocking the IP address on your computer to ensure you are unable to use banned websites
  3. Website (URL) Blocking: Blocking a certain number of URLs on the device (provided by the school) so that whenever you want to access a particular website, it does not open on the device.

Thankfully, both types of blocks can be bypassed, and we will show you how!

When discussing ways to unblock a website, it is important to understand the situation one is trying to overcome. In this particular case, it is the students we are dealing with. So all the methods shared below are easy to use and, more importantly, legal.

Here are some ways you can try to gain access to a proper internet connection –

Method #1 – Try Using Your Mobile Hotspot for Bypassing Network Limitations

The first thing you can try is changing the network you use on your school computer. Some schools’ website blocks and network restrictions are limited to their Wi-Fi or intranet. If you have different connectivity options, you can use the blocked website.

Here’s what you need to do –

Step 1 – Disconnect your school computer from the current network.
Step 2 – Use your smartphone and find the hotspot option on it.

Step 3 – Connect your computer to your device’s hotspot.

Once you are done doing so, you can easily go back to your browser and start browsing an open internet, as now the restrictions limiting your access are gone.

Method #2 – Use a VPN to Bypass IP Blocking

Using a VPN, you can bypass IP blocking quite easily. A virtual private network helps you use a different IP address than the one assigned. This means your original IP, the one that is blocked online, is no longer in use.

A VPN can be used at schools with dedicated servers to block your IP from accessing the internet on school computers. If you want to know how to make a VPN work, you must try out Systweak VPN with multiple high-speed servers.

Here’s what you need to do –

Step 1 – Download the application from the link below.

Step 2 – Install the application & Sign up using your email address
Step 3 – Connect your PC to VPN and then use the internet.

Step 4 – You can also try to change the server as per your requirement.
Step 5 – If the connection drops, you need not panic as it also has a killswitch.

Method #3 – Setup a Proxy Server Or Use Web-Based Proxies

Using a VPN is the best method to help you bypass all sorts of restrictions. However, if you are working with a device from your school, there are chances that it won’t allow you to install anything on it. This means you might be unable to download the Systweak VPN on your device.

In that case, you can set up a proxy server yourself. Here’s what you need to do –

Step 1 – Press Windows + I to open the settings
Step 2 – Go to network and internet settings from the left pane.

Step 3 – In the opened menu, click on Proxy.
Step 4 – In the Proxy options, find Manual Proxy Setup and click on Set up
Step 5 – Set up the server using a custom IP Address.

This way, you can handle the blocking mechanism in place and bypass it on your school computer.

If you can not figure out a manual proxy, you can also try using browser-based proxies. You can open these websites if they are not blocked and then use your internet through their proxy wall.

Method #4 – Shorten the URL Before Using it on School PC

Another cool hack you can try to bypass your websites on school computers is to use a shortened version of the blocked website. If your school’s blocker works on website detection or URL blocking, this can greatly help.

Simply go to the search engine and look up websites shorter. Paste the link you want to open and generate a smaller one. Use this smaller link to open the website you want.

Say Bye-Bye to Blocked Internet on School Computer

With the help of the above 4 fixes, you can easily bypass the internet block set by your school. Keep in mind that using the internet is a thing of responsibility. Hence you should always ensure that you do not use these methods to use the internet in a way you are not supposed to.

That’ll be all for this post. We hope you found our solutions helpful. Thanks for reading. Good luck!
