The error message, “You can’t make this change because this selection is locked,” at the bottom left of the MS Word screen is frustrating. It prevents you from making changes to the document you have on hand. This can be a resume, contract, form template or any other document. The dead cursor sitting in the text doesn\u2019t let you do anything.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nIf you think this is some sort of a bug or the Word file is broken then that\u2019s not what it is. When you get this message it means either the version of MS Office you are using is inactive, or the file is opened in protection, or you are trying to edit a locked content from a form template or editing is restricted, or you only have view-only access or the formatting data is damaged in the file. 1. Check MS Office activation<\/h3>\n

When you cannot edit a document and you see “Most features of Word have been disabled” or you get an activation pop-up it means either the trial has expired or you are using an unlicensed version in which you cannot edit the document.\u00a0<\/span>
